Two Years After Tsunami, Unicef Completes First Health Centre in Aceh

IOM Hands Over Dutch Houses to Tsunami Survivors
Friday, 30-September-2005 -- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) today handed over keys for newly constructed homes to the tsunami-devastated community of Dayahraya, in Baitassulam, Banda Aceh. The units are funded through the generosity of the Government of the Netherlands.
Mercy Malaysia Hands Over House in Weu Raya
Wednesday, 21-September-2005 -- Malaysian Mercy President Jemilah Mahmood visited Aceh Province to attend the inauguration of houses in Weu Raya Village, Lhok Nga District, Aceh Besar Regency. Construction of the houses was made possible by funding from Malaysian MERCY in cooperation with the Aceh Besar Regional Government.
Only 30 Percent of Houses Committed for Aceh Jaya
Friday, 16-September-2005 -- District of Aceh Jaya needs more houses for tsunami survivors. According to data presented by the local government and public works office, a total of 16,283 houses need to be reconstructed in the district, including the houses destroyed by the conflict. Thus far, various memorandum of understanding only committed to provide 4,810 houses, of which 815 are currently under construction.

The number of death victims from the earthquake that hit two provinces of Indonesia, Yogyakarta and Central Java, almost reach 3.000 peoples. According to latest record from Indonesia National Disaster Agency (Bakornas PBP) , as of Saturday 20.00 PM, the total death toll has reach 2.986 peoples. District with biggest number is Bantul and Klaten.
